The 2009 Texas Open Lifeguard Competition focuses on the many skills lifeguards must possess in order to prevent, prepare for and respond to aquatic and First Aid/CPR emergencies.
The Lifeguard Competition helps to recognize the capability and dedication of these lifeguards using standards set by the American Red Cross Lifeguarding r.06 program. Teams are comprised of young men and women who dedicate themselves to keeping people safe while they enjoy pools and open water throughout the State of Texas.
Get your team together and bring your friends and family to support you during the competition. On Sunday, July 19, trophies and awards will be presented in all events and T-shirts will be given to each participant. After the awards ceremony, all team members and guests will be able to enjoy a day at SplashTown. Spectators must arrive with their team for free admission to SplashTown, or they will be required to pay $32.99 for admission.
Teams consist of 4-8 members and all events must have co-ed representation. Each member must participate in the CPR-First Aid Skills, Written Test, and at least 1 water event.
Teams will compete in one of three categories:
Municipalities
Private Pools
Pool Management Companies and Waterparks.
Trophies and ribbons will be awarded within each category. The top six overall teams will receive trophies.
