Fire is one of the most common disasters. Red Cross volunteers respond to 3 to 4 emergencies every day. Most of these emergencies are house and apartment fires occuring throughout the 16 county jurisdiction of the Greater Houston Area Chapter.
Fire causes more deaths than any other type of disaster. These tragic outcomes can be significantly mitigated if you have early warning from a smoke detector and everyone in your family knows how to escape calmly. Please be serious about the responsibility of planning for and practicing what to do in case of a fire.
Make sure your family (1) has a Family
DISASTER SUPPLIES KIT, (2) has a Family
DISASTER PLAN and (3) is
INFORMED with the most up-to-date information. Then get together to discuss and finalize your personal Fire Plan.
