Community Services Program The obstacles associated with aging and disabilities can lead to isolation, loss of independence, unfulfilled potential and diminished quality of life. For these clients transportation is more than a ride—it means mobility and a degree of independence. The American Red Cross provides non-emergency van transportation for persons who need medical attention and have no other means of transport. The American Red Cross door-to-door service operates primarily to and from the Texas Medical Center. Alternate destinations are serviced based on availability of drivers and vehicles. The American Red Cross Community Services Transportation program is made possible because of funding provided by the United Way of Texas Gulf Coast, donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
