For more than 125 years, the American Red Cross, founded by Clara Barton, has been a symbol of American compassion, caring and volunteerism. Now, through your membership in the Clara Barton Society, you can become a part of Clara Barton's legacy and lend a helping hand to prepare for and prevent disaster in the community or to those needing assistance following a disaster.

Clara Barton Society members help ensure that the Red Cross has the capacity to respond immediately, whenever someone is in need. If your preference is for a traditional classroom setting, instructor lead training, locate your class below then click on the class listing for scheduled times & locations. Take a class on-line You can now take a class on-line at home, your office, anyplace you have access to a computer. To receive a student certificate you will need to come into one of our office locations and complete a skills test on what you've learned on-line. The skills testing is scheduled for 3 hours, but may be less based upon the class you have taken. You must pass the skills test to receive a certification. International Family Tracing Services Armed conflict and natural disasters leave millions of people around the globe in urgent need of humanitarian assistance every year. Red Cross Tracing Services and Red Cross Messages help families locate each other, send communications, and learn each other’s fate. Although tracing loved ones can take a long time, families need closure. Tracing assistance is provided to people in the community who have been separated from their relatives (citizens of other countries) as a result of war, civil disturbances, natural disaster, or changing world conditions over which the individual has no control. Tracing services for victims of war have their foundation in the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols. The American Red Cross of the Greater Houston Area Chapter has been providing transportation in Greater Houston since World War II. As times have changed, the Red Cross has adapted and re-designed its transportation service to meet the needs of the community. We understand the necessity of transportation for people who are elderly; people with disabilities; and people who are chronically ill. We know that Red Cross Transportation Services are more than just a ride. Our services provide our clients with enhanced mobility, a reduction in isolation, and more independence.
