Volunteer

The American Red Cross works within communities, providing relief to people who have suffered a disaster. We also help people prevent, prepare for and respond to a variety of emergencies. With your help, the promise of neighbor helping neighbor in times of trouble becomes a reality and our communities become safer places to live.

The Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross recruits and trains volunteers to help deliver services throughout an 16-county area. With the help of our dedicated volunteers the Red Cross is the preeminent provider of life saving services, including disaster preparedness, emergency social services, health and safety training.
There are so many ways you can help save lives. Be a hero and get involved!

• Complete the volunteer self assessment first. This will help you decide if the Red Cross is a good fit for you. 
  
• You can fill out the on-line application and start the background check process  Please read the background check instructions  first.
  
• Enroll in a Volunteer Orientation session. Please bring your completed application packet with you this session.

VolunteerMatch, the organization's premier service, utilizes the power of the Internet to help individuals nationwide find volunteer opportunities posted by local nonprofit and public sector organizations.

VolunteerMatch's powerful online database allows volunteers to search thousands of one-time and ongoing opportunities by zip code, category, and date. Then signup automatically by email for those that fit their interest and schedule. Contributing organizations post their own opportunities, giving volunteers easy access to an accurate and diverse source of activities.
